About Before You Enroll

This page describes who publishes this site and what it will not tell you.

Before You Enroll is an independent guide for people who have been ordered by a court, judge or probation officer to take a class, and who want to understand what their order requires before they spend money.

What this site is not. It is not a law firm and gives no legal advice. It is not a class provider and sells no classes. It is not connected to any court, probation department or government agency.

What it does. It collects what courts and state agencies have published on the subject, quotes them exactly, says which authority said it and when the document was read, and states plainly which group of people each statement was written about. That last part matters more here than anywhere else: guidance written for parents in a family-law matter is routinely quoted as though it applied to someone on criminal probation, and it does not.

What it will never say. That any court will accept any class. That decision belongs to the court that issued your order.
